About Our Mission
If you can't open it, you don't own it.
Fountainplimar was founded out of sheer frustration. We watched as perfectly functional hardware was sent to landfills because of software locks, fifty-cent proprietary screws, and a complete lack of available schematics.
Our Philosophy
We believe ownership inherently includes the right to modify, repair, and sustain a product. The current trend of closed ecosystems and unibody designs heavily prioritizes corporate margins over environmental sustainability and consumer rights.
What We Do
We run an independent teardown index. When a major new consumer product is released—be it a smartphone, a washing machine, or a rotary hammer—we buy it, tear it down, and document the process. We evaluate the mechanical design and the software restrictions, publishing our scores to help you make informed purchasing decisions.
Join us in rejecting the disposable culture. Support brands that sell parts, provide manuals, and treat you as an owner rather than a tenant of your own hardware.
